Sorare Chooses Solana for Scalability
Sorare, a fantasy sports platform built on blockchain, has decided to migrate from Ethereum to Solana after six years. CEO Nicolas Julia explained that Solana’s high speed, lower fees, and strong focus on consumer apps make it a better fit for Sorare’s growing ecosystem.
The platform plans to move over 10 sports games and their trading cards to Solana by the end of this month. Julia described the transition not as a replacement but as an “upgrade,” emphasizing that Solana’s scalability and developer activity will help Sorare grow faster.
He added that Solana leads the fantasy sports crypto market in daily active users, developers, and total value locked, showing its growing strength compared to other blockchains.
Still Confident in Ethereum
Even with the migration, Sorare’s CEO made it clear that the company still supports Ethereum. Julia said Sorare remains “very bullish” on Ethereum and will continue supporting ETH users through Base, a Layer-2 network built on Ethereum.
This means users will still be able to deposit Ether (ETH) and access Sorare features through Ethereum-based integrations.
Sports NFTs Face Tough Times
Sorare, which lets users buy, sell, and trade licensed digital player cards as NFTs, has grown to 5 million users and was valued at $4.3 billion in 2021. However, the sports NFT market has faced a slowdown since the last bull run.
According to CoinGecko, the total market cap for sports crypto tokens sits around $1.17 billion, far below its 2021 highs. Platforms like Flow, Chiliz, and NBA Top Shot have also struggled to regain their past momentum.
Data from DappRadar shows that the floor price of Sorare NFTs has dropped from about $91 in April 2022 to just $2.21 as of October 2025. Still, daily NFT sales on Sorare remain steady, ranging between 5,000 and 30,000 transactions per day — similar to levels seen in 2022.
Moving Toward a Multichain Future
Julia said Sorare plans to become chain-agnostic, meaning it will operate across multiple blockchains rather than relying on one. The company is already integrating LayerZero, a cross-chain protocol, to handle payments across Solana and Base seamlessly.
He also mentioned that Sorare is keeping an eye on other high-performance blockchains like Sui and Aptos, which could help further expand Sorare’s global reach in the future.
Not Worried About Solana’s Network Issues
When asked about Solana’s history of network outages, Julia said he isn’t too concerned. He explained that the Sorare team has learned to deal with blockchain challenges and is confident in Solana’s recent improvements.
“We’ve been more than reassured by the quality of Solana’s technology and the stability of the network,” he said. Julia noted that outages have become less frequent and are fixed much faster than before, showing how quickly the Solana ecosystem is improving.
A New Phase for Sorare
Sorare’s move to Solana marks a major shift for one of the most popular fantasy sports platforms in crypto. By combining Solana’s speed with Ethereum’s trust, Sorare hopes to deliver a smoother experience for users while staying open to future blockchain innovations.
